ISLAMABAD:
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry on Friday informed the Senate that the Universal Service Fund (USF) continues to expand telecommunication facilities in remote regions of the country.
Answering several questions during question time, the minister said the temporary suspensions of mobile and internet services in some areas were imposed solely for security reasons.
“These suspensions are very limited and strictly in the national interest,” he said, adding that the government had already ensured that data packages would not expire during such suspensions.
