ISLAMABAD:
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has taken strict note of the failure of the PML-N government in Punjab to complete the necessary process for holding local government (LG) elections in the country’s most populous province, despite assurances.
According to sources, the election supervisory authority has summoned the chief secretary and LG secretary to appear in person on January 22.
The provincial government has not yet handed over the delimitation rules and notifications of the union councils (UC) to the ECP. The ECP stated that more measures will be taken to ensure the elections are held.
