Prince William and Kate Middleton had kept some details of their important visit secret as a precaution.
The Prince and Princess of Wales were due to arrive in Scotland on Tuesday 20 January to carry out a series of engagements in Stirling and Falkirk to highlight the unique traditions of Scottish heritage. However, royal editor Rebecca English shared that an engagement for the day has not been revealed for security reasons.
Kensington Palace released an update on the couple’s trip as they left the UK for their destination.
William and Kate, known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay and Lord and Lady of the Isles when in Scotland, will first visit the National Curling Academy in Stirling to meet Great Britain’s Olympic and Paralympic curling teams.
The meeting takes place before the next Winter Olympic Games and Paralympic Winter Games to be held in Milan-Cortina between February and March.
They will then visit Radical Weavers in Stirling, a working hand knitting studio that also operates as a charity.
William and Kate will learn about the heritage of Scottish tartan and benefit from the therapeutic qualities of the fabric as they create blankets and textiles to help those in need.
Meanwhile, Harry is still in the UK as he continues the legal process of the lawsuit against publisher DailyMail. On the other hand, King Charles and Camilla are at Balmoral. It is unclear whether the monarch will meet William and Kate while they are in Scotland.
