- Unlike other Xbox titles, Forza Horizon 6 is expected to launch on PS5 without being tuned to other platforms.
Xbox has talked a little more about its launch strategy for PlayStation 5, even going so far as to admit that things could be going better on that front.
In an interview with GamesRadar+, Xbox Game Studios boss Craig Duncan went into detail about the success of the publisher’s efforts on Sony’s machine, highlighting Forza Horizon 5 as a particularly impressive highlight.
“Forza Horizon 5which launched on PS5 last year, did very, very well,” Duncan said. “It helped the community around that game grow – it gives everyone more people to play with. “For me, this strategy is really about how we can get our games to as many people as possible.”
Xbox Game Studios released several of its titles on PS5 last year. Games like Doom: The Middle Ages and The Outer Worlds 2 It arrived on console the same day as the Xbox and PC versions. Some were not so lucky, however, with companies like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will arrive on PS5 at a later date.
This will also be true for Forza Horizon 6, which will arrive on Xbox and PC on May 19, 2026. However, a release for PS5 is expected later this year, with no specific date specified at the time of writing this article. This also does not coincide with the releases of both. Fable and Oven, which are scheduled to arrive on PS5 on the same day as other platforms.
Duncan explained why this might be the case, saying: “There are always development realities about when these projects start: how big a team is and what plans we have at the start of development…
“Sometimes we’re inconsistent. You see some games in one place, other games in various places. Just know that we’re going to work on it and we’re going to try to be more consistent with what we do.”
