Zardari and UAE counterpart discuss ways to boost strategic partnership

ISLAMABAD:

President Asif Ali Zardari and UAE President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Tuesday discussed ways to further deepen the long-standing and brotherly relations between Pakistan and the UAE.

President Asif Ali Zardari, accompanied by a high-level delegation, met the UAE President in Abu Dhabi during an official visit to the UAE, the Press Wing of the President’s Secretariat said in a press release.

The two leaders reviewed the full spectrum of bilateral cooperation and explored new opportunities in trade, investment, energy, infrastructure, technology and people-to-people exchanges, highlighting the significant potential to expand the economic and strategic partnership.

President Zardari highlighted the importance of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s recent visit to Pakistan and expressed his gratitude for the UAE’s continued support in strengthening bilateral relations.

The meeting was attended by First Lady Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari MNA, People’s Party President Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Federal Minister of Home Affairs and Narcotics Control Mohsin Naqvi and Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE.

Both sides also exchanged views on a variety of regional and international developments and reaffirmed their commitment to promoting peace, stability and sustainable development.

President Zardari’s visit underlined the long-standing friendship and strategic partnership between Pakistan and the UAE.

AD port group

President Asif Ali Zardari appreciated AD Ports Group’s long-term investment and its growing role in Pakistan’s maritime and logistics sector, describing it as a key pillar of economic cooperation between Pakistan and the UAE.

He highlighted the group’s ongoing investments in Karachi Port as instrumental in improving the port’s capacity, efficiency and regional competitiveness.

AD Ports Group Managing Director and CEO Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi paid a courtesy visit to the President in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, the Press Wing of the President’s Secretariat said in a press release.

The meeting was attended by First Lady Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari MNA, People’s Party President Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE.

Both sides agreed that the expansion and modernization of port infrastructure would strengthen trade flows and support Pakistan’s broader economic development and the country’s maritime trade.

The President welcomed the establishment of AD Ports Group Representative Office in Islamabad and appreciated the group’s collaboration on digital and customs facilitation initiatives aimed at improving trade efficiency.
