Below, I’ll explain what happens to Simon Williams and Trevor Slattery in the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) television series. I’ll also try to answer your biggest questions about the Disney+ show, including whether there will be a season 2 and why. wonder man leaves an important story thread unresolved. So go ahead, but be careful, Full spoilers follow. For the latest Marvel TV show!
What happens to Simon and Trevor in the final episode of Wonder Man?
It’s no surprise to anyone that ‘Yucca Valley’ picks up immediately after its predecessor ‘Kathy Friedman’. The seventh episode of the MCU television show ended with Simon learning that Trevor had been working with the DoDC, the American agency that monitors superhumans it perceives as threats, to keep an eye on Simon. Remember, Trevor has not completed his prison sentence for his crimes based on The Mandarin by Iron Man 3. So, it was either help the Department of Defense or go back to jail.
Feeling betrayed by someone he considered his friend and mentor, Simon loses control, leading him to unleash an ion explosion that causes damage to one of the ‘Wonder Man’ movie sets in the universe and temporarily cuts off power within a certain radius.
After learning what happened and examining the scene for themselves, the DC Department, led by the tenacious Agent Cleary, now feels they have enough evidence to arrest Simon. What follows is a cross-image sequence that appears to show the DC Department arriving at the apartment complex Simon lives in, with the latter slowly spiraling as he watches a news report covering last night’s events before tearfully calling his mother before being taken into custody.
However, just as Simon resigns himself to his fate, he receives a phone call from Trevor, who tells Simon that he knows how to do things right before ending said call. Confused, Simon turns up the volume on his TV (he had muted it to call his mother and then take Trevor’s call) and discovers that the DC Department is not coming for him. They’re coming for Trevor.
It turns out that Trevor has reprized his role as The Mandarin, well, the fake one he played. Iron Man 3. And, after recording a new video in which he takes full responsibility for the explosion in Hollywood, which Trevor/The Mandarin passes off as a terrorist incident, he posts said video online, which news agencies and the DoDC soon find out about.
The DC Department arrests Trevor/The Mandarin in his suite at the Talmadge Hotel, although Cleary has his suspicions that Trevor/The Mandarin is covering for Simon, and that Trevor is simply giving another performance as The Mandarin. Without breaking character, Trevor/The Mandarin calls Cleary “dumb” before berating him further with a call to his Iron Man 3 days, saying “…and you never saw me coming.”
After evading the clutches of the DC Department and with no one knowing that he was the culprit of the explosion, Simon is called back to finish production on ‘Wonder Man’.
There, he receives a pep talk from Von Kovak, who tells Simon to use Trevor’s “betrayal”; remember, everyone except Simon and Cleary thinks Trevor is in reality, a terrorist called The Mandarin, to further his actions.
Before filming the first scene of the day, the props department also reveals that they have not located the sunglasses worn by Brett Willard, also known as the actor who played Wonder Man in the original universe film. Handing them to Simon, he puts them on before removing the black robe he wore to reveal the Marvel character’s classic black suit with a giant red ‘W’ emblazoned across his chest.
Simon is then seen filming the climax of the new version of the film and, without missing a beat, the Marvel Phase 6 TV show cuts to said sequence shown during the film’s world premiere. A coming full circle moment for the show’s main character if there ever was one.
Some sweet moments follow: Simon and Von Kovak discuss a possible sequel, Simon reconciles with his brother and earns some long-overdue praise, and a quick, quiet moment with his agent Janelle.
Then, somewhat strangely, we see Simon following a blue-collar worker named Chuck Eastman, who will apparently be the subject of a new biopic starring Simon. However, it soon becomes clear that this is all a facade because Chuck is not just anyone: he is a security guard for the Department of Defense.
Bottom line: Chuck allows Simon to join him on his next shift. To ensure that Simon doesn’t attract questions from the DoDC, Chuck forces him to wear a DoDC security guard suit, which turns out to be the perfect cover for Simon. After convincing Chuck to let him wander the DC Department prison alone, Simon finds Trevor and, yes, you guessed it, uses his powers to free Trevor.
When breach alarms sound, Cleary (who has just informed the DC deputy that Simon’s ionic abilities make him even more dangerous than they thought) and company rush to Trevor’s cell. Arriving at the scene, they stare in amazement at a giant hole in the ceiling, which Simon created. The show ends with Simon and Trevor being propelled into the air as Simon shows off his improved power set by revealing that he can now fly.
Why don’t we learn how Simon Williams got his powers in Wonder Man?
I could be wrong and correct me if I’m in the comments. – but I think wonder man It is the first MCU project that he hasn’t done it revealed how a super-powered being acquires his abilities.
Sure, The fantastic four: first steps didn’t show us the superhuman origins story of Marvel’s First Family. We don’t actually see how Tom Holland’s Peter Parker became Spider-Man during his introduction to the MCU in Captain America: Civil War or in his first solo film Spider-Man: Homecomingany. However, those cases are different because we’ve already seen the origin stories of the webslinger and the Fantastic Four in non-MCU film adaptations.
With wonder man However, as many people’s first encounter with Simon Williams, it would have made a lot of sense if his superhuman story had been covered. So why wasn’t it like that?
In an exclusive chat before wonder manAt the launch of Disney+, also known as one of the best streaming services in the world, I asked co-creator and executive producer Andrew Guest that very question.
“It’s interesting because, in the comics, Simon Williams has had different and complicated iterations over the years,” Guest responded. “When Marvel was thinking about this project, there wasn’t any particular comic they were looking at. [for inspiration]so they were open to any interpretation.
“The more I understood Simon and found out what the show was about, the more I felt like Simon didn’t care about his powers,” she continued. “So I didn’t want the show to focus too much on where he came from.
“As far as Simon goes, this is something that just happened to him in the way that you can become super tall or, you know, have really hairy legs. So I didn’t feel the need to delve into Simon’s relationship with his superpowers and where it all started, and that’s what I felt the show’s relationship with them should be as well.”
Does Wonder Man include cameos from Wanda Maximoff and/or Vision?
No, Wanda Maximoff, also known as the Scarlet Witch, and her humanoid romantic partner do not appear in wonder man.
Now, you might be wondering why one or both of these super-powered beings would appear on this show. Without getting into Simon Williams’ incredibly complex Marvel Comics history, he has close ties to both characters. So it’s not possible that Wanda and/or Vision could have made a cameo.
That being said, the chances of them doing so were always slim to none. This is because (spoilers) Wanda is presumed dead after she apparently sacrificed herself in doctor strange 2. Meanwhile, Vision was killed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War before his body was reanimated as an emotionless husk during WandaVision. The last we saw of this revived Vision, he had flown to an unknown whereabouts after ‘Soul Vision’, a version of the character that Wanda created using her powers in WandaVision – restored Vision’s memories.
Since Wanda is believed to be dead and Vision’s location is unknown, we will meet him in vision quest on Disney+ later this year; So, none of us should have expected them to appear in wonder man.
Does Wonder Man have a mid-credits and/or post-credits scene?
No, there’s no mid-credits and/or end-credits sting to linger over.
As I always say in these types of articles, you have to watch the end credits sequence to appreciate the number of people who have worked on any film or television project. If you’re just watching the end credits to see if there’s an ending wonder man However, in this scene you will be sorely disappointed.
Will there be a Wonder Man season 2?
We don’t know. Publicly, Marvel has only described wonder man as a limited series. This is usually code for projects like this that are a “one and done” situation.
That doesn’t mean a second season should be ruled out entirely. As has become the industry standard these days, wonder manThe return of depends on your audience. Attract a big enough audience and Marvel would be foolish not to greenlight a sequel.
As for what Season 2’s story could entail, Guest gave me an idea of where Simon Williams’ journey in the MCU could go.
“[Co-creator] Destination [Daniel Cretton]Myself, Sir Ben. [Kingsley] and yahya [Adbul-Mateen II] “I would love to continue working together and continue exploring Simon and Trevor and more stories with them,” Guest told me.
“I haven’t thought much about what Simon’s next step would be, but one of the things I think about is that Simon may think that getting this role of a lifetime would solve all his problems. I’m guessing he’ll feel just as frustrated and lonely and difficult. [to work with] as it was before. Maybe there are other things in your life that need to come. [to the fore] And there needs to be more introspection for him to find fulfillment.”
