SANGHAR:

A man kidnapped his ex-wife for remarriage after acquiring khula to supposedly avenge the damage to his ego, as the woman had not only “escaped torture in captivity” but had also found marital bliss and was living happily with her new husband.

Members of the Odh community staged a protest in Sanghar demanding the recovery of a married woman, Jamilaan Odh, allegedly kidnapped by her ex-husband Sunil Odh.

The rally, held in front of the Sanghar Press Club, attracted a large number of women, children and the elderly, who accused the police of negligence and demanded justice.

The protesters, including Miromal Odh, Sajan Odh, Rajo Odh and Sodomal Odh, told the media that Jamilaan Odh, a resident of Booriji village in Pirumal, had been kidnapped by her ex-husband Sunil Odh. They said a case had already been registered at the Pirumal police station, but no effective action had been taken, causing deep concern among the people.

According to protesters, Sunil Odh had a history of abuse against Jamilaan, which led her to file for divorce in court. After obtaining khula, she remarried, prompting Sunil to threaten dire consequences. Protesters alleged that he then followed through on his threats by kidnapping her.

They further complained that despite registration of the case, the police had not made any progress against the accused, leaving the victim’s family in grave distress. Concluding the protest, the protesters urged Sanghar SSP Abid Ali Baloch to immediately take notice, ensure strict legal action against those involved and bring back Jamilaan Odh without delay so that justice can be done.
