Tim Burton shared an emotional message after Catherine O’Hara passed away at the age of 71, sharing a photo of them from the set of Beetle juice Beetle juice.
The 67-year-old filmmaker took to Instagram on Friday, January 30, writing, “Catherine, I love you. This picture shows how much light you gave us all.”
The image showed the late actress in costume in the sequel to the 2024 film alongside Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder and Jenna Ortega.
“You were a special part of my life and after my life,” Burton wrote.

“The prolific and multi-award-winning actress, writer and comedian Catherine O’Hara passed away today at her home in Los Angeles after a brief illness. The family will hold a private celebration of life,” reads the message from Creative Artists Agency.
Burton and O’Hara had been long-time collaborators after they worked together on the 1988 film. beetle juiceand reunited for the sequel in 2024. They also worked together on The nightmare before Christmas in 1993.
Previously speaking about her friendship with Burton, O’Hara shared in an interview that he took her to meet her husband, Bo Welch.
“I met my husband in beetle juice. “He designed the sets and is a production designer, and Tim really brought us up to speed,” he said.
