- Copilot and Microsoft Teams get new features
- Copilot will now suggest follow-up questions in meetings
- Additional questions could be about meeting topics, clarifications, or other areas.
Finishing your Microsoft Teams meetings on time will soon be a thing of the past thanks to a new Copilot feature.
Microsoft’s artificial intelligence tool will now be able to suggest follow-ups to “keep the conversation going” when replying to a message, whether you like it or not, the company revealed.
This could mean that your video conference calls run a little longer than expected, or that you and your colleagues may stumble upon some previously unfamiliar ideas.
Microsoft Teams and Copilot
News of the update was revealed in a post on the Microsoft 365 roadmap, where it was simply titled “Copilot in Meetings will suggest follow-up questions to ask.”
The post noted that the feature will involve Copilot in Teams Meetings suggesting follow-ups when you reply to a message from a user.
Microsoft says these follow-up questions will “generally” be based on the answer Copilot has given in the past, meaning they could focus on a particular topic, ask for more details, or clarify what a particular person said during the meeting. .
The feature is still listed as in development for now, but Microsoft has listed an expected rollout start date of March 2025, meaning users won’t have to wait too long.
When launched, the feature will be available to Windows and Mac users, on desktop, worldwide.
The news is the latest in a series of additions and improvements to Microsoft Teams in recent months, as the service looks to remain useful to users around the world.
More recently, Microsoft Teams revealed that it will introduce transcription for multilingual meetings, supporting more languages than ever before, even when it comes to meeting summaries.
News will also see an improved version of document summaries, generated and provided by Copilot, to help users stay up to date with their chats.
