Kazakh President Tokayev arrives in Pakistan on his first state visit

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday for his first state visit.

He arrived at Nur Khan Air Base and was received by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The Kazakh president was accompanied by a high-level delegation consisting of senior cabinet ministers and other officials.

He is expected to hold high-level meetings with senior government officials and also address the Pakistan-Kazakhstan Business Forum.

The Foreign Ministry had earlier said that the visit will provide both sides with an “important and timely opportunity to carry out a comprehensive review of bilateral relations”, discuss new avenues for expanding cooperation, particularly in trade, logistics, regional connectivity, people-to-people contacts and explore collaboration at regional and international forums.

The FO had said that the visit reflected the strengthening ties between the two countries, their mutual commitment to transform historical and cultural affinities into solid cooperation and their common desire for peace and progress in the region.
