There is some concern for New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye heading into Super Bowl LX, but the second-year quarterback isn’t worried about his injury designation.
Maye began the week in Santa Clara with a shoulder injury, although he and his coaching staff downplayed the severity of it before the big game.
“I feel good. I’ll be fine,” Maye said on opening night of the Super Bowl, via NFL.com. “I threw quite a bit. I threw as much as I would in a normal practice. I felt really good and I’m looking forward to getting back out on Wednesday and Thursday to practice and Friday to get ready for a normal week of preparation.”

Maye was officially listed as questionable in the Patriots’ bye week before heading west. He also faced an illness. But he said he has “turned a corner” since landing in San Francisco on Sunday.

“I felt good flying and throwing today. I think I turned the corner, and I really had no doubt that I would be 100% for the game, this is the Super Bowl,” he said. “We have two weeks to prepare and do whatever it takes to do well. I’m confident and I feel good.”
There’s no doubt that Maye, this year’s MVP candidate, will do everything he can to be 100% for Sunday’s showdown at Levi’s Stadium.

Maye heads into this competition as the youngest potential starting quarterback to win the Super Bowl. Dan Marino is the youngest quarterback to play the sport of all time, beating Maye by 49 days, but he failed to win in 1984.
Head coach Mike Vrabel is confident his second-year quarterback will get the job done despite some struggles in these playoffs.
Vrabel said he liked the way the ball came out of Maye’s hand during practices up to that point.

“I thought the ball went well. I thought it was good practice for Drake and for everyone else,” he said.
