- The Primare Allt-i-Ett combines speaker, transmitter and amplifier
- Designed as an all-in-one audio device, including touch screen for streaming
- It sells for $3,500 / £2,700 (around AU$5,200)
If you don’t like poring over speaker spec lists and trying to figure out if they have the connection or port you need, here’s a new device for you. The newly introduced Primare Allt-i-Ett has basically all the modern connections you could want from one of the best wireless speakers.
The Allt-i-Ett, a phrase that apparently translates to “all-in-one” in both Norwegian and Swedish, is not a cheap Bluetooth speaker. It costs $3,500/£2,700 (about AU$5,200) and takes up an entire cabinet, as you can see in the image above; It looks a lot like the five-star Cambridge Audio Evo One, but with a good-sized touchscreen to make it even more versatile.
For that price, you get a speaker, transmitter, and amplifier all in one.
Let’s look at the first: a speaker. The Allt-i-Ett has six woofers, two midrange drivers, and two tweeters with waveguides, and produces 300W of power. It’s really an all-in-one speaker setup, although you can also connect a subwoofer.
Stay connected
As mentioned, connectivity is the real draw. Primare has enabled, take a deep breath, USB-A, coaxial, optical, HDMI eARC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, FM radio and DAB+ and 3.5mm input, as well as compatibility with AirPlay 2 Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect and Qobuz Connect. Oh, and there’s stereo RCA input or a phono preamp, if you want to plug in one of the best turntables.
In short, you can connect (wired or wireless) almost any other device to have Allt-i-Ett play your music. HDMI eARC also indicates that it can function as one of the best sound bars, even though that is not the primary function, although perhaps that is where you would most appreciate the secondary output option.
To try to manage some of those connections, Allt-i-Ett has a range of control options. You can use a phone app, a remote control, or a body-integrated touchscreen. You can use them to manage some additional features: an 11-band equalizer, automatic room calibration, 3D sound, and several location modes.
Despite the high price, the Primare Allt-i-Ett seems designed for people who want a room-wide audio setup, but can’t accommodate (or simply don’t want) a multi-unit setup. The speaker allows you to manage multiple media sources, all in one model, without needing to purchase a separate amplifier, adapter or receiver; We look forward to testing it to see if it can surpass the power of the Cambridge Audio Evo One. After all, that “only” costs about $1,599…
