- Spotify launches three new updates for its Lyrics tool
- After experimenting with Lyric Translations late last year, Spotify is rolling it out globally.
- Additionally, Letras will now have a new home in the Spotify app, and Premium users will also have offline access to Letras.
Although it’s been five years since Spotify launched Lyrics, there’s still a lot of work to be done, even if it’s one of the best music streaming services. Earlier this year, I shared my list of improvements I wanted Spotify to make in 2026, and one of them has already been resolved.
As of today, the platform is launching not one, but three updates to its Lyrics tool, and it’s been a long time coming, although Apple Music has had one of them for a few months now.
The three new updates not only give Spotify Lyrics a new look, but they also give them a whole new purpose, starting with lyric translations.
Lyric Translations Finally Going Global
After a successful trial in more than 25 markets, Lyric Translations is going global, so now you’ll be able to understand what your favorite artists sing about, no matter what your first language is.
This will be useful for English speakers like me, who love music from artists like Rosalía and Bad Bunny but still rely on third-party apps for translations.
Following the launch of Apple Music’s lyrics translation tool in September 2025, Spotify began experimenting with a similar feature shortly after the platform launched Lyric Translations following the release of Rosalía’s album. lux. At the time, it was only available in select markets, but that is no longer the case.
Premium users can access lyrics offline
Would you like to be able to see lyrics while listening to music offline? Well, now you can.
In addition to lyric translations, Spotify allows Premium subscribers to access song lyrics even when listening without WiFi or service. Now, you’ll never miss a line, “whether you’re on the subway on your commute or flying at 30,000 feet,” as Spotify says.
Lyrics find a new home on the play page
Not only are Lyrics getting those two new updates, but Spotify is also making it easier to find them in the app. Since Spotify launched Lyrics, they’ve remained in the same place in a tab below the play bar, but now they’re moved front and center.
When you open the playback page in the Spotify app, the new Lyrics tab will appear directly in the Now Playing View, where, as before, you’ll see them scroll while you listen to music.
Although Spotify should have made these updates years ago, better late than never, right? The previous experience with Lyrics wasn’t the best, so we hope this next update gives you the push you always need. Now Spotify just needs to fix its syncing issues.
