RAWALPINDI:

Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has said that no terrorist or his enabler will be spared, adding that “no one can rationalize violence and terrorism under any pretext.”

He made these remarks during a visit to Quetta, where he received a “comprehensive operational briefing on the prevailing security environment and internal security operations”, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Wednesday.

Balochistan has seen a spike in terrorist activities. In the latest episode of violence, several coordinated terrorist attacks were carried out across the province on Saturday. The number of terrorists killed in clearance operations across Balochistan has risen to nearly 200, as security forces continued “mopping-up” actions in Nushki district and other parts of the province.

According to the ISPR, CDF Munir was given a comprehensive operational briefing on the prevailing security environment and ongoing internal security operations during a visit to Quetta.

“The CDF stressed that no terrorist and his enabler will be spared and all will be dealt with strictly according to law and no one can rationalize violence and terrorism under any pretext,” the ISPR said.

He added that the briefing covered terror attacks orchestrated by “the internationally designated Fitna al Hindustan terrorists, backed by India, and the swift aggressive response of the security forces who failed in their ulterior motive of compromising peace, stability and development in Balochistan.”

The statement maintained that the measures being taken to further strengthen the power of the State and ensure the protection of the population and critical infrastructure were also discussed in detail.

CDF Munir further praised the “professionalism, valor and sacrifices” of officers and troops of all law enforcement agencies to “thwart nefarious anti-Pakistan designs and maintain law and order in the region”, he added.

Accompanied by Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, the field marshal visited the Combined Military Hospital, where he met injured personnel of Pakistan Army, Balochistan Frontier Corps and police, the ISPR said.

“CDF Munir commended his high morale and commended his bravery and steadfastness in protecting the homeland from foreign-sponsored terrorists,” he added.
