Leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Tehreek Tahaffuz Ain Pakistan (TTAP) on Thursday said they would not compromise the health of jailed PTI founder Imran Khan and urged the nation to join a nationwide shutdown strike scheduled for February 8 (Sunday).

During a joint parliamentary committee meeting at Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad, opposition leaders expressed concern over the law and order situation in Balochistan and showed solidarity with the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country.

The meeting was attended by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, TTAP chief Mahmood Achakzai, PTI General Secretary Salman Akram Raja and PTI stalwarts Asad Qaiser and Taimoor Saleem Jhagra among others, according to a media report.

Addressing the participants, Qaiser said that the meeting had been called due to Imran’s health. “Don’t put us against the wall, otherwise all options are open,” he said. Speaking about Sunday’s protest, he added: “Today we promise that we will make the protest a success.”

He further said that the PTI would meet the Chief Justice on Friday (today). Qaiser said the meeting raised concerns about the PTI founder’s health and demanded that his visitation rights be restored.

The participants demanded measures to ensure the well-being of the people in the Tirah Valley of KP. They also condemned the arrest of party leaders and workers in Sindh and announced that demonstrations would be held on February 8.
