Taylor Swift has officially released the music video for Opalitethe latest single from her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl.
And it’s already trending thanks to its nostalgic ’90s vibe, clever concept and a brilliant array of celebrity cameos.
Swift reunited with cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto, who previously worked with her on Too good: the short film.
The concept
Swift teased for the first time Opalite after an appearance in The Graham Norton Show where the idea for the song came from while joking with actor Domhnall Gleeson.
Swift described the project as “an absolute thrill to create this story and these characters.”
Written and directed by Swift herself, the video begins as a satirical commercial before turning into a romantic comedy story.
Domhnall Gleeson plays Swift’s shy love interest whose life changes when he is doused with the magical “Opalite” potion.
Celebrity cameos
Very similar to its iconic Bad blood video, Swift recruited a star-studded lineup.
Oscar winner Cillian Murphy makes a subtle cameo that has fans excited, while Gleeson takes center stage alongside Swift.
Domhnall Gleeson, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Lewis Capaldi and Graham Norton join the fun.
