- AI.com has just been bought by the founder of Crypto.com for $70 million
- The deal was funded in cryptocurrency, of course.
- It is now the most expensive domain
Kris Marszalek, founder of the appropriately named crypto platform Crypto.com, purchased AI.com for $70 million, making it the most expensive domain sale ever made by Financial times information.
And of course, the deal was funded entirely through cryptocurrencies. But that’s not the only thing ‘Kris Marszalek’ about the deal: The founder, who previously spent heavily on Super Bowl advertising, managed to acquire the domain just before the 2026 Super Bowl, in line with trends to capture large audiences.
Marszalek reportedly plans to launch AI.com as a personal AI agent for messaging, app usage, and stock trading.
Domains like this rarely go on sale, but AI.com’s sale managed to break all records by becoming the most expensive domain ever sold, surpassing CarInsurance.com ($49.7 million), VacationRentals.com ($35 million) and Voice.com ($35 million).
AI.com is likely considered the most valuable domain in artificial intelligence simply because of its simplicity and clarity: it has been around since the early days of the Internet and has changed hands several times, but it was only because of the rise of AI that it reached record prices.
While it’s unclear whether domain ownership will generate long-term returns, it could serve as an important investment if AI continues to be relevant.
