Seven arrested as ANF seizes 153kg of drugs in six operations across Pakistan

Pakistan’s Anti-Narcotics Force says it has launched a crackdown on drug smuggling in educational institutions and several cities in the country.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the ANF, seven suspects were arrested in six different operations and 153.4 kilograms of narcotics were seized. The value of the recovered medicines amounts to more than Rs 11.7 million.

According to ANF, officers recovered 7.7 kg of hashish from a suspect near a university in Lyari, Karachi. In Hyderabad, it says 2kg of hashish was seized from a suspect near a university.

The ANF also said that the arrested suspects admitted that they were selling drugs to students.

List of operations

Near Karachi Northern Bypass, ANF recovered 120 kg of hashish from a vehicle and two suspects were arrested. Near Peshawar Ring Road, 18 kg of hashish and 1.3 kg of ice (methamphetamine) were seized from a vehicle, and a suspect was arrested, according to ANF.

In Peshawar, the ANF says 2.4 kg of hashish was recovered from a suspect near a cricket ground, while near the Indus Highway in Kohat, 2 kg of hashish was seized and a suspect arrested.

According to the ANF, cases have been registered under the Narcotic Substances Control Act, 1997 and investigations are underway.
