- Philips Hue Lucca lights expected to be updated
- These models will become brighter and more colorful.
- At the moment, pricing and release dates are unclear.
In recent weeks we’ve seen Philips Hue update some of its existing products, such as its Hue Flourish lamp. And it looks like another update is on the way for the Lucca series of products, comprising a wall lamp, a path lamp and a pedestal lamp.
According to the usually reliable Hueblog (via Notebookcheck), the Lucca lamps are receiving a bulb upgrade. These products will soon be equipped with the E27 smart bulb, pretty much the best Philips Hue makes right now.
This will not only increase the maximum brightness of these devices from around 800 lumens to around 1100 lumens, but will also allow for a wider range of color effects. Some of Lucca’s current models only offer white lighting, but the bulb upgrade should put these fixtures among the best Philips Hue lights out there.
It seems that the rest of these products will remain unchanged, namely the design and dimensions. Philips Hue has just updated the bulb that is installed inside, which after all is the most important component of a smart light.
Price to be confirmed
At the moment, it is unclear if this will affect pricing and we also do not know when the update will occur. However, since the update has already been leaked, it shouldn’t be long before it becomes official.
Availability of the current Lucca series appears to be quite limited at the moment: the US Philips Hue store only has the wall sconce on sale for $109.99, while the UK store has the wall sconce for £89.99 and the pedestal lamp for £114.99. Neither product appears in the official Australian store at the time of writing.
That’s another indication that an update is on the way, along with previously rumored updates to the Turaco lights and the Flourish table lamp, all of which are powered by the same E27 Philips Hue bulb.
Meanwhile, the Philips Hue Bridge and Bridge Pro hubs continue to be updated with new and improved features, including easier access to automations. Please note that you need a Bridge or Bridge Pro to be able to use the Lucca lights.
