- Circle to Search could add new feature focused on mobile games
- Getting help from the game would search the internet for tips and tricks based on a screenshot of the game.
- It is not yet known when the feature will be released.
Google’s AI-powered Circle to Search tool could soon bring a new level of utility to mobile gamers, considering a feature found in unreleased code.
Android Authority took a behind-the-scenes look at unreleased Android code for an APK teardown, which found a new chip (read: button) for Circle to Search.
Titled “Get Help for Gameplay,” the feature, as currently designed, takes a screenshot of the game in progress and uses it as context to perform a Google search and access tips and advice for the player.
This Google search doesn’t appear to be particularly targeted and returns results from multiple platforms and websites, so it may be more of a shortcut than a completely new way to access support.
What’s more, Google may have difficulty knowing what game you’re playing or where specifically in that game you’re stuck, leading users to refine their search by noting the game and level manually.
Of course, we can’t say for sure whether Get Game Help will receive further tweaks to improve its accuracy and effectiveness before the feature is released to users, but it seems likely given its current state.
This feature doesn’t seem to be able to differentiate between games and other apps yet, as the game’s Get Help button seems to appear every time Circle to Search is activated.
Google has been pushing Circle to Search hard in late 2024 and early 2025; It wasn’t until September 2024 that the feature started appearing on phones outside of the Google and Samsung ecosystems.
Throughout 2024, Google rolled out a number of improvements to what has become one of its most prominent technologies, such as Shazam-style song recognition, but this is the first time we’ve seen it focus directly on gaming. mobiles.
