ISLAMABAD:
The Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) on Wednesday stayed pending proceedings before the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in the case of Dr Aafia Siddiqui, suspending hearings scheduled by the high court and effectively stopping other actions, including the contempt of court proceedings.
A three-member bench headed by FCC Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan and comprising Justice Ali Baqar Najafi and Justice Syed Arshad Hussain Shah heard the matter.
After accepting appeals filed by the federal government, the court prevented the IHC from proceeding with the case, particularly with regard to potential contempt proceedings.
