Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson said that privacy-focused blockchain Midnight has no plans to bring privacy maxis from the zcash and monero communities to the Midnight chain.
“There is no attempt to attract anyone from Monero or ZCash,” he said during a question and answer session at Consensus Hong Kong on Thursday.
“They will certainly come in due time, but they are a different demographic,” he said. “Those are people who wake up every day and really care about privacy, and they’re important, but what we’re looking at are billions of people who don’t know they need privacy but are given it by default.”
Midnight announced on Thursday that its mainnet will go live in March as a Cardano partner chain.
Hoskinson then stated that the spirit of privacy is not as simplistic as the monero and zcash communities often allude to.
“What Monero and ZCash have been trying to convince people is that it’s like a light switch. We’re private. The switch is on. Everyone else isn’t. The switch is off. That’s not how it works,” he said.
