Swiss company Jura, known for its high-end coffee makers, has launched a premium automatic espresso machine that offers a menu of 51 different drinks, including hot and cold coffee, as well as luxurious chocolate drinks.
The new Jura Z10 is the successor to the Jura J10, which has long held a place in my guide to the best coffee makers thanks to its excellent coffee preparation and milk foam, as well as its ability to incorporate any type of syrup (with or without sugar) into the chosen milk through its clever Sweetfoam system.
To do this, a small container is used that is filled with syrup and connected to the milk dispenser. As the milk passes, the syrup is added little by little so that it is evenly distributed throughout the drink. The result is intense flavor with every sip (rather than concentrating at the bottom of the cup, as it would be if you pumped in the syrup before brewing) and a surprisingly stable foam that remains until the last drop of coffee.
The Jura Z10 has the same coffee brewing features as the J10, plus a new system that makes a creamy chocolate foam using syrup or powder. It is ideal for mochaccinos and other coffee and chocolate drinks.
The Jura Z10 can produce perfectly extracted coffee thanks to its precision grinder, which can automatically adjust the grind size to suit your chosen beans and beverage (a rare feature, as most bean-to-cup machines require manual adjustment).
Other features include the coffee timer, caffeine regulator, milk assistant and quality assistant, all of which will help you achieve consistent results with each brew and tailor the flavor to your preferences.
The machine is Wi-Fi enabled and can be controlled via a bright 4.3-inch touchscreen or remotely via the Jura smartphone app.
As with the J10, this kind of versatility doesn’t come cheap. The Z10 is available directly from Jura for £2,500 (around $3,400 / AU$4,800). I hope to try it out soon and give you a full review so you can decide for yourself if it’s worth the investment.
