During initial interrogation, the suspect confesses to having orchestrated at least nine major terrorist operations.
BANNU:
In a significant development for counter-terrorism efforts in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the Bannu region of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested a highly wanted terrorist commander during an intelligence-based operation in People’s Bazaar, Bannu.
The suspect, identified as Osama, originally from Bannu, is known by the organizational aliases “Danial” and “Baghi.” Authorities describe him as an active commander in the newly formed militant group ‘Ittihad al-Mujahideen Pakistan’ (IMP), established through collaboration between Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and another group called TTG.
During initial interrogation, Osama confessed to orchestrating at least nine major terrorist operations. These include the December 2025 attack on Deputy Commissioner Miran Shah Shah Wali Khan, in which the official was attacked, his vehicle was set on fire and he was killed. The arrested militant also admitted his involvement in the kidnapping and brutal murder of former Bannu SHO Abid Wazir.
Other revelations link him to the abductions and subsequent murders of three prominent leaders of the Lakki Marwat Peace Committee, Ataullah, Farmanullah and Waliullah, who were working for public welfare and regional peace. Osama confessed to kidnapping two Frontier Corps (FC) personnel and police officers, and one FC member is reportedly still in custody.
Other confessions include his role in the murder of polio officer Malik Ishaq and his security guard, as well as conducting reconnaissance at sensitive institutions and covertly providing photographs and information about police personnel to his accomplices.
Osama also revealed that he and his associates set up illegal checkpoints in the People’s Bazaar and surrounding areas to harass and intimidate civilians.
