ISLAMABAD:

The National Dialogue Committee (NDC) on Saturday urged Chief Justice Yahya Afridi to ensure compliance with the Supreme Court’s directives on the medical examination and treatment of jailed PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan.

Imran, who has been imprisoned in Adiala jail for the last two and a half years, has reportedly lost 85 percent of the vision in his right eye.

PTI founder Salman Safdar’s lawyer, appointed as amicus curiae by the high court, was allowed to visit his client in prison earlier this week and said Imran started experiencing blurred and hazy vision three to four months ago.

He said despite telling the jail superintendent, no action was taken beyond giving him eye drops.

Information Minister Ata Tarar earlier confirmed that Imran underwent a 20-minute medical procedure on January 24 at Islamabad’s PIMS hospital and said he was “well and healthy”.
