Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir on Monday asserted that the security and stability of the UAE is an integral part of Pakistan’s own security, citing deep-rooted historical ties and strong strategic partnership between the two brotherly countries, the army’s media wing said.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief made these remarks during a meeting with His Highness Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Advisor of the United Arab Emirates.

The ISPR said both sides discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in various sectors, with a particular focus on economic collaboration, investment and security. Regional developments were also reviewed and the importance of continued coordination to promote peace and stability was emphasized.

Field Marshal Asim Munir expressed “sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Government of the United Arab Emirates for its long-standing investments and continuous support to Pakistan’s economy and security over decades”, noting that such support reflects the depth of bilateral relations, the statement said.

He reiterated Pakistan’s firm commitment to further strengthen the strategic partnership with the UAE in all fields, in a manner that serves the mutual interests of both nations and contributes to regional peace, stability and prosperity, he added.

Earlier, CDF Munir discussed joint efforts with the Saudi defense minister to promote global peace and security. In a post today on X, Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman said he met with Field Marshal Munir to reaffirm “our strong relations and strategic defense partnership.”

He added: “We discussed our joint efforts to promote global peace and security in a way that serves our shared interests.”

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have long-standing strategic and defense cooperation. In September last year, the two signed a historic “Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement,” declaring that “any aggression against either country will be considered an aggression against both.”

The defense pact reflected the shared commitment of both nations to enhance their security and achieve security and peace in the region and the world, aimed at developing aspects of defense cooperation between the two countries and strengthening joint deterrence against any aggression.

The pact was signed during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Riyadh at the invitation of Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
