- 15 companies launch the Trusted Tech Alliance, led by Microsoft and Ericsson
- The launch comes amid ongoing initiatives on data sovereignty.
- Five basic principles establish the commitment of the Alliance
Microsoft and Ericsson are leading the launch of the newly formed Trusted Tech Alliance (TTA), comprising 15 tech giants, in hopes of appeasing customers, particularly when it comes to data sovereignty.
Announced at the Munich Security Conference, the TTA hopes to create and promote a “trusted technology stack” in connectivity, cloud infrastructure, semiconductors, software and artificial intelligence.
The launch comes amid growing concerns about data sovereignty in Europe and Asia, which are largely seeking to reduce their dependence on American Big Tech.
Trusted technology alliance
“In today’s geopolitical environment, it is critical that like-minded companies work together to protect security and promote high global standards to preserve trust in technology across borders,” wrote Microsoft President Brad Smith.
Anthropic, AWS, Cassava Technologies, Cohere, Ericsson, Google Cloud, Hanwha, Jio Platforms, Microsoft, Nokia, Nscale, NTT, Rapidus, Saab and SAP are the 15 companies that make up the launch of the Trusted Tech Alliance.
The announcement details the five basic principles that participants must adhere to: transparent corporate governance and ethical conduct; operational transparency, secure development and independent evaluation; strong supply chain and safety oversight; open, cooperative, inclusive and resilient digital ecosystem; and respect for the rule of law and data protection.
“TTA members are committed to working with governments and customers to ensure that the benefits of emerging technologies can build broader public trust while driving job creation and economic growth,” the TTA wrote.
Although the Alliance has not detailed its next steps, we hope that more details will be shared about those five basic principles, as well as information about the verification process that ensures their compliance.
