NA panel points out skills gap

ISLAMABAD:

A parliamentary panel on Tuesday pointed to a growing skills gap that limits access to key labor markets such as Japan and South Korea, even though the country produces almost 800,000 university graduates annually.

The National Assembly Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistan and Human Resource Development, chaired by Syed Rafiullah, examined Pakistan’s overseas employment strategy. The panel carried out a comprehensive review of overseas facilitation mechanisms, focusing on the performance of Community Welfare Attachés (CWAs), overseas labor market penetration and recognition of Pakistani qualifications abroad.

Members said overseas Pakistanis remain a vital national asset, but stressed that institutional performance should be measured through tangible facilitation results rather than routine reports.
