NYT Strands Today (Game #717): The Answers
The answers to today’s Strands game number 717 are…
- luge
- BOBSLEIGH
- SNOWBOARDING
- HOCKEY
- CURLING
- SPANGRAM: WINTER SPORTS
- My rating: Easy
- My score: Perfect
The first thing I thought of when I read the topic “cold competition” was the Winter Olympics, but the easy-to-identify spangram was actually WINTER SPORTS.
I have an ice phobia, due to slipping on a black ice surface and breaking my leg a while ago, but even though I occasionally wince from crashes in speed skating events, I’m really enjoying the Winter Games.
The skeleton, which does not appear here, is my favorite event: the bravery of jumping onto a sheet of ice amazes me, as do the tiny movements that mark the differences between the medalists.
In terms of gameplay, this was a relatively easy run, although I worked on several creative spellings of LUGE (why I thought it contained an H) before finally getting it right.
Answers from yesterday’s NYT Strands (Tuesday, February 17, game #716)
- HORSE
- SNAKE
- TIGER
- BUN
- RABBIT
- DRAGON
- GOAT
- SPANGRAM: ZODIAC SIGNS
