god of war The creator of the franchise, David Jaffe, has criticized God of war Children of Spartacalling the spin-off “garbage”, “dumb” and “stupid” and does not recommend it to fans of the series.
Sony announced and the shadow fell Gods of war Children of Spartaa 2D side-scrolling spin-off featuring Kratos as a child, in last week’s State of Play presentation.
After playing an hour of the game, Jaffe posted a YouTube video to express his thoughts, criticizing the game’s narrative concept, even though he was initially “very interested” in the side-scrolling concept.
“This is the kind of game I always wanted in terms of 2.5D. god of war“I’m very interested in it, but to me this is not what I was talking about,” Jaffe said. “I bought this game, it costs 30 dollars, I don’t like it, I don’t recommend it.”
Jaffe went on to criticize the Sony executive who greenlit the project.
“I wanted to make one more video about what they’re thinking, what the fuck were they thinking? It’s not a bad game by any means, it’s okay, it controls decently… but for me the most fascinating part of this is, why does it exist? I don’t understand.”
He then talked about how he stopped playing after an hour because the characters kept “stopping over and over again.” [to] talk and talk,” adding, “this is not god of war“.
He also didn’t like the idea of a young Kratos, calling the version of a character a “generic fucking kid.”
“It’s probably some damn writer saying, ‘Oh, people want to know why, how did people get to be like this?’ “Nobody cares,” he said. “It’s a silly idea,” he argued, since fans “wanted something like Blasphemousin terms of it’s violent, it’s bloody, it’s serious, it has the tone of the first god of war games.”
“If you threw god of war Outside of that, and you just said, ‘Hey, we’re making a game about this kid,’ most people would say ‘that doesn’t sound like a very compelling idea for a video game character,’ because it’s not.”
Even though it only played for the first hour or so at the time the video was posted, Jaffe was willing to say, “Maybe it will get better, I’m sure it will,” adding that “there’s nothing offensive about it.”
“The only offensive thing is its generic nature,” he continued. “The only offensive thing is his inability to reflect the license, the brand. It’s like if you licensed John Wick and made a movie where he’s just sitting in a coffee shop talking. That could work when you have Keanu Reeves, because he’s very compelling and the character is interesting.”
Later in the video he expanded on this and said he was interested in a 2.5D camera. god of war game similar to Furious Ninja Gaiden, neon helleither Shinobi.
“Why would you post this? All it does is leave a bad taste in your mouth.” god of war In my opinion, in the mouths of the fans,” Jaffe said, before again criticizing the narrative concept.
“Every time you make a new game, you don’t have to say, ‘You know what? Let’s not go back to the great character that people love and who built this franchise. Let’s look at him as a little kid, a generic, boring fucking kid,'” the creator said. “It’s just an insult to the fans. It’s an insult to the people who worked on the games who would think this character is what people want. It’s bullshit. It’s dumb. It’s stupid. I’d say avoid this damn thing.”
The video is pretty scathing, but Jaffe played three more hours of the game and posted another lengthy video where he further criticized the game, including some technical issues he encountered, and determined that the game was “not ready for release.”
