A new NYT Strands puzzle appears at midnight every day for your time zone, which means some people are always playing “today’s game” while others play “yesterday’s.” If you are instead looking for Wednesday’s puzzle then click here: NYT Strands Tips and Answers for Wednesday, February 18 (Game #717).

NYT Strands Today (Game #718): The Answers
The answers to today’s Strands game #718 are…
- IDEA
- HYPOTHESIS
- CONCEPT
- POSTULATE
- THEORY
- NOTION
- SPANGRAM: EUREKA
- My rating: Easy
- My score: Perfect
I once visited a museum that demonstrated Archimedes’ understanding that the displacement of water could measure volume (a moment that led him to run through the streets of ancient Greece shouting EUREKA) by placing a slowly filling bathtub suspended above visitors’ heads.
Once the bath reached critical moment, anyone under the tub would get wet, a quarter-hourly occurrence that delighted the visiting children.
This memory didn’t help me with my own (fully clothed) EUREKA moment during today’s quest, but it was fun and helped me travel around the rest of the board, positing a THEORY that future Eureka moments, courtesy of AI, will probably be a lot less fun.
Answers from yesterday’s NYT Strands (Wednesday, February 18, game #717)
- luge
- BOBSLEIGH
- SNOWBOARDING
- HOCKEY
- CURLING
- SPANGRAM: WINTER SPORTS
