Response requested to request for fuel price increase

.

LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has sought responses from the federal government and other respondents on a miscellaneous petition challenging the recent rise in oil prices.

Justice Khalid Ishaq heard the petition, which argued that inflation in Pakistan has already reached alarming levels, negatively affecting citizens and businesses, and that the latest increase in petrol and diesel prices has further burdened the public.

The petitioner argued that oil prices are not aligned with international market rates and alleged that the government lacks a transparent mechanism to determine fuel prices.
