Former NFL star Cam Newton discussed his thoughts on women having children with multiple fathers in a recent podcast.

“It’s Giving” host Sarah Fontenot spoke with the former Carolina Panthers star about having a child and bringing a new man into her life. He asked Newton if he felt that a woman’s “value diminishes when she has several children by several men.”

“I just think the reality of that answer is that women’s value decreases the more children they have,” she said on the podcast. “I was having this conversation with one of my kids’ mothers and she’s still fine. I was telling her, ‘The guy you’re dating or going to date, if he’s not willing to love these five kids that you have, he’s not the guy for you.’

“Because when I came into your life, I was willing to accept you and everything you had and there are guys out there who are going to say, ‘They’re not my kids. I love you.’ Well, that’s not how it works. But that doesn’t mean you can’t find someone. I’m pretty sure he has someone.”

Fontenot pressed Newton further, asking him if he thought that was the best thing he could do if he didn’t have children. Newton said he didn’t feel like she could do better than him.

She added that she didn’t feel that most women fare better than the man who is the father of her children.

“It’s true love. I owe them a service,” he said. “I’ll always be indebted to them because no matter how they make me feel, once I come back down to earth and say, ‘Hey, that’s still the mother of my kids.’ It’s like one of those family business situations. We can have our fights, but when we walk out this door, you’ll never necessarily know and we know, individually, like, bro, don’t talk to me now.

“But then certain things will happen and you know you can count on me. It’s just our toxic emotion.”

Newton said that as he grew older, he came to accept controlling his thinking, “altering” himself and “controlling negativity.”
