“I finally feel like I know a lot about sex,” Duf said. “When I was 20, sex wasn’t always pleasurable; there was a lot to discover. Now I finally understand it. Maybe it’s a girly thing, but I’m not ready to be put out to pasture.”
Translation? Confidence suits you well.
The album, her first in a decade, was written largely with her husband and producer Matthew Koma. It dives into love, growth, and, yes, sex. Case in point: the bold single roommates where he sings: “I just want the beginning, I don’t want the end / I want the part where you say ‘Damn’ / Behind the bar, giving you blowjobs / Then sneaking home late and waking up your roommates.”
But it’s not all playful nostalgia. During an appearance in cbs mornings, Duff confirmed that the emotional track we don’t talk is about his estrangement from his sister Hailey Duff.
“It’s definitely about my sister and the loneliest part of my existence. It’s not having my sister in my life right now, and I really had a hard time thinking about including that on the record,” Duff said.
At 38, Duff is embracing every chapter: awkward twenties, complicated family ties and all.
And to grow old? “I’m only 38! Just because you’ve known me since I was 9… When do I start getting the discounts?”
