Prince Harry had previously claimed that his personal relationships were greatly affected by stories published in the press, which detailed private information that only his close circle knew.
The Duke of Sussex, who appeared at the Royal Court of Justice last month to testify against publisher Daily Mail, reiterated his stance and stressed that the leak did not come from his inner circle.
As the court process continued on Monday, the former mail on sunday The editor, Peter Wright, indicated the source of Caroline Graham’s article which revealed that Harry had been “in love” with his then-girlfriend Chelsy Davy.
The former editor told the court that the identity of Harry’s ex-girlfriend “was provided by staff” at an Argentine polo ranch and not acquired illegally.
“My understanding is that the ranch staff gave Caroline the name Chelsy Davy, with whom she or those who worked with her had a friendly relationship,” he said.
He also added that he did not recall anyone approaching British Airways for further details and denied that any information had been “blacked out”.
Last month, Harry gave an emotional witness statement that newspapers had attributed to sources and friends, making him “paranoid beyond belief” and making him believe the newspapers wanted him to “get me into drugs and drink to sell more papers.”
He was shocked by the “extraordinary level of detail” mentioned in the story and made him feel as if he were “part of an endless quest, a campaign, an obsession to have every aspect of my life under surveillance.”
