Four Indian-sponsored Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists, including a suicide bomber, were killed after security forces foiled an attempted attack on a security forces checkpoint in South Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Saturday.
According to army media, the terrorists attempted to breach the security checkpoint; However, their nefarious plans were decisively stopped and thwarted by the vigilant and determined response of the security forces.
“The attackers’ explosive-laden vehicle was successfully attacked and destroyed outside the perimeter of the post, killing a suicide bomber who was inside, but causing no damage,” the statement read.
Security personnel engaged the remaining intruders, forcing three terrorists to take shelter in a nearby compound, who were then precisely neutralized in a deliberate clearance operation, the ISPR said.
The operation ended without any casualties on the part of the security forces, he added.
Security forces have started a disinfection operation to eliminate any other Indian-sponsored terrorists found in the area, the ISPR said, adding that the relentless anti-terror campaign under the vision ‘Azm and Istehkam’ will continue in full swing to eliminate the menace of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
The incident occurred a day after security forces killed 12 militants in response to a terror attack on a joint police checkpoint in KP’s Tank district.
The attack took place on the night of July 23-24 when militants attempted to breach the security of the checkpoint; However, their attempt was thwarted by the rapid response of security forces, the ISRP said on Friday.
The ISPR said the troops engaged the fleeing militants and killed 12 of them during the operation. Failing to achieve their objective, the attackers crashed a vehicle loaded with explosives against the perimeter wall of the checkpoint.
The resulting explosion caused severe damage to the checkpoint infrastructure and led to the martyrdom of 15 people, including 12 military personnel, two policemen and a government official from the former forestry department.
Pakistan witnessed a rise in terrorist activities, particularly in its provinces of KP and Balochistan, since 2021, when the Afghan Taliban came to power.
