The world of technology has never been more exciting and TechRadar helps up to 30 million people around the world each month find and use the technology they love. The Australian PC Awards launched in 2017 with the aim of harnessing our team’s countless hours of product testing and expert knowledge into a concise selection of the best products and services released each calendar year. Since then, we’ve reviewed thousands of products across dozens of categories. The experience and knowledge of our editorial teams, together with rigorous evaluation and benchmarking processes, lead to the selection of finalists and award winners that we are confident in recommending as the best available.
What it means to be an Australian PC Awards winner
When a product or service appears on our winners list, you know that it has undergone rigorous objective evaluation and analysis.
Every product or service we identify for inclusion in the Awards is evaluated against the exact same criteria, regardless of any commercial relationship. There are no smoke and mirrors reviews. Our goal is simply to determine the best options available in Australia for that particular category.
Only the best products in each category make the judges’ cut, so every time you see our Australian PC Awards badge, you can be sure the product is a top contender in its field.
Frequently asked questions
How is a winner determined?
Australian PC Awards winners are carefully selected in a meticulous multi-stage judging process by our expert judges. Product reviews by TechRadar, as well as other PC-related sites within the global Future network, are tabulated and comparatively evaluated. These sites include Tom’s Hardware, PC Gamer, Windows Central, and Tom’s Guide.
A short list of finalists is then drawn up. Senior members of the editorial team evaluate and analyze all aspects of the products on this list before selecting a winner in each category, as well as taking note of the highly recommended runner-up candidates.
What is the evaluation criteria?
Our evaluation criteria vary for each category, but each product is evaluated using the same criteria so you can be sure that we have evaluated each product equally. We publish an overview of each category when winners are announced. This covers the important technical and market developments during the evaluation period that contributed to the selection of the winners. Key factors include innovation, value and quality.
Do you compare all the products on the market for the Awards?
We certainly aim to include as many products and market vendors in the Australian PC Awards as we can. However, there may be some categories (such as those where hundreds or thousands of new products are launched each year) where it is not feasible to include all products in the market. In these cases, we strive to ensure that we have included all potential finalists in a given category.
