Riot, Top Earnings, US Jobs Report: Crypto Week Ahead

Earnings reports are still coming in. This week Riot Platforms, the fourth-largest bitcoin miner by market cap, is due to report, as is No. 6 Core Scientific.

Like many of their peers, the two are using their experience managing large data centers and negotiating power supply deals to expand into AI. Core, whose proposed $9 billion purchase by CoreWeave (CRWV) fell through in October, barely mentions digital asset mining on its homepage. It will be interesting to see how much of their business still comes from that source.

The US employment report for February will also be released this week. The world’s largest economy is expected to have added 60,000 non-farm jobs last month, according to the Trading Economics consensus estimate.

Traders will also be keeping an eye on the war in the Middle East, in which the United States and Israel attacked Iran in what President Donald Trump called “major combat operations” targeting the country’s nuclear, naval and missile infrastructure.

Iran has responded with attacks on several countries in the region that host US military bases. The conflict has been escalating and Iranian-backed militias have joined in. Trump has said it is expected to last “four to five weeks,” so an earlier-than-expected truce could restore risk appetite.
