NFL Draft prospect responds to critics of his speech

Former Texas A&M Aggies wide receiver KC Concepción responded to criticism for the way he speaks, as he was mocked while speaking to reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Concepción admitted in a post on her Instagram Stories on Sunday night that she has been battling a stuttering problem for much of her life.

“I just want to say something. If you have a speech impediment, it’s okay with us,” he said. “I have stuttered for as long as I can remember speaking. This is part of me. This is who I am. I cannot control this. I want to be a role model for those who may be afraid to speak, who may be afraid and not confident in themselves. I am with you.

“This weekend has taught me a lot about myself and about the people in this world. I appreciate everyone who supports me and reached out to me after these interviews. Don’t let the thoughts and opinions of (an) outsider get in the way of you being great, of achieving something in life. I’m lucky to be in this position that I’m in and I want to help give back to those who are afraid to speak up, who aren’t as confident. I’m with you. I’ll always be with you. We’re different for a while. reason.

“God had blessed my life in ways I couldn’t even imagine last year. I love you all and support you as we climb this mountain together.”

According to The Stuttering Foundation, more than 80 million people worldwide, including about 3 million Americans, suffer from stuttering. Athletes such as Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and George Springer have been open about stuttering problems in the past.

Concepción is hoping to hear his name called when the NFL Draft takes place in the spring. He was an All American for the first time after the 2025 season.

The former Aggies star had 61 receptions for 919 yards and nine touchdowns.
