67 Taliban terrorists killed in Balochistan and KP as Operation Ghazb Lil Haq intensifies

Terrorists attempted 16 physical attacks in Balochistan, all were effectively repelled

At least 67 Taliban terrorists were killed in separate operations in Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Tuesday, while a Balochistan Frontier Corps (FC) soldier was martyred during ongoing counter-terrorism operations, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said.

‘Operation Ghazab Lil Haq’ was launched on Thursday night after fresh clashes along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, as Afghan Taliban forces fired on multiple locations, prompting swift military retaliation. According to an earlier statement, Pakistani security forces killed 435 Afghan Taliban fighters and destroyed 188 tanks and vehicles during the operation. More than 630 Afghan operatives were injured, 188 tanks and armored vehicles were destroyed, 31 Afghan outposts were captured, and 51 locations across Afghanistan were targeted by successful airstrikes.

According to Tarar, terrorists carried out 16 physical attacks in Qilla Saifullah, Noshki and Chaman districts in Balochistan, all of which were effectively repelled by security forces. Troops also faced fire attacks at 25 additional locations, which were successfully foiled.

“A soldier of FC Balochistan North made the ultimate sacrifice while defending the motherland, while five soldiers were injured,” the minister said.

He added that security forces killed 27 Taliban terrorists during operations in Balochistan.

Meanwhile, in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, security forces repelled another series of attacks overnight. Tarar said a physical attack was attempted at one location, while fire attacks were carried out at 12 separate locations.

“A physical attack was attempted at one location while a fire attack was being carried out at 12 locations which were repulsed without any loss of life,” he wrote.

The minister added that 40 Afghan Taliban terrorists were killed during night operations in the province.

The operations come amid an intensified national campaign against terrorist groups targeting security forces and border districts, particularly in areas adjacent to Afghanistan.

Early today, AFP Journalists in Kabul heard multiple explosions and gunshots as Afghan and Pakistani troops continued border clashes. The explosions echoed across the capital along with anti-aircraft fire, as Afghanistan’s Defense Ministry said fighting with Pakistani forces was continuing.

At the nearest border crossing, about 50 kilometers (30 miles) from Jalalabad, residents in Torkham said. AFP The fighting that lasted several days continued.

The neighbors have clashed along the border since Thursday, when Afghanistan launched a border offensive in response to Pakistani airstrikes.

Islamabad said its February airstrikes that sparked the escalation targeted terrorists. Islamabad accuses Afghanistan of failing to act against terrorist groups carrying out attacks in Pakistan, which the Taliban government rejects.

Border fighting has affected several Afghan provinces. The violence of recent days is the worst since fighting in October killed more than 70 people on both sides, and land borders between the neighbors have since been virtually closed.
