- Cyberattack targets French healthcare software provider
- Patient administrative data and limited medical notes are extracted
- The company confirmed the breach and notified the authorities
French software company Cegedim Santé, which creates solutions for the healthcare industry, confirmed that it suffered a cyberattack in which it lost confidential data of thousands of people.
In a press release, the company said that in late 2025 it detected “abnormal application request behavior” in the accounts of doctors using the MonLogicielMedical (MLM) product.
MonLogicielMedical is a web-based management application designed to help healthcare professionals manage their daily administrative and clinical tasks online. Allows users to access and update patient records, schedules, prescriptions, billing and other practice data from any browser or mobile device.
History of sexual orientation and exposed condition
Cegedim Santé says that in France around 3,800 doctors use MonLogicielMedical, 1,500 of whom were affected by this attack.
“As soon as the incident was detected in late 2025, all necessary measures were taken to address it and it was contained,” the announcement reads. “In accordance with our legal obligations, we have taken all regulatory measures, including notifying the CNIL and filing a complaint with the prosecutor.”
Following an internal investigation, Cegedim Santé concluded that the attackers extracted data from patients’ administrative records, including full names, gender data, dates of birth, telephone numbers, postal and email addresses, and administrative comments.
“For a very limited number of patients, these comments may have contained the doctor’s personal notes about sensitive information. The patients’ structured medical records remained intact.”
What makes this incident particularly interesting is the fact that Cegedim Santé is a supplier to the French Ministry of Health. In total, 15.8 million records were seized, including 165,000 files with medical notes.
The news initially appeared on French television station France 24, which reportedly said the data included details about diseases such as HIV/AIDS, as well as people’s sexual orientation. Apparently, some of the country’s leading politicians are among those affected.
