- Microsoft 365 E7 tier could be added with additional agent management and AI tools
- Could generate subscription revenue even as AI agents become “workers”
- Speculation positions the plan on the higher end, costing around $99 per month.
Microsoft is reportedly considering a new Microsoft 365 enterprise tier designed to close an emerging gap in the world of agent AI, ensuring the company maintains subscription revenue even as the number of human positions declines.
Designed for organizations that deploy AI tools and agents as colleagues alongside human workers, the new tier could require agents to have their own identities, email addresses, Teams access, and policy controls, just like regular workers.
Insider business information Reports suggest that the new subscription could be called E7 and would likely combine E5 with Copilot and agent management into a single license.
What is Microsoft 365 E7?
Microsoft has not yet officially confirmed the existence of the E7, but rumors suggest that it could combine the security and compliance features of the E5 with the Copilot tools built into Office applications. An additional layer of Agent 365 would also help companies deploy and manage AI agents.
For customers, it could mean integrated governance and security for AI agents and a simpler billing process under a single SKU. Likewise, it could lead to high costs for large companies and promote dependence on suppliers as customers move deeper into the ecosystem.
For Microsoft, however, it could be a solution to monetize enterprise AI adoption as AI agents increase in popularity, using existing per-seat pricing but translating it from human to agent.
Given that Microsoft 365 E5 currently costs $57 a month (will increase to $60 a month starting in July 2026) and Copilot costs $30 a month, the monthly price of the E7 could reach triple figures. That said, Microsoft has not publicly revealed any plans to launch such a subscription for now. TechRadar Pro is waiting to hear back from Microsoft for confirmation.
