Britney Spears remains under investigation following her DUI arrest earlier this week, and the results of chemical tests from her field sobriety tests are still pending — results that could significantly affect the scope of what happens next.
The 44-year-old woman was stopped on Highway 101 in Ventura County, California, late on Wednesday, March 4, after officers observed signs of impairment during a roadside stop involving her black BMW 430i.
She was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol and booked into the Ventura County Main Jail at 3:02 a.m. Thursday morning.
A blood test at a local hospital found her blood alcohol level was .06, below the legal limit, and she was discharged at 6:07 a.m.
A court hearing has been set for Monday, May 4.
His spokesman was swift and relentless in his response to the arrest.
“Britney is going to take the right steps and follow the law, and hopefully this can be the first step in a long-awaited change that needs to happen in Britney’s life,” the rep said, describing the incident as “completely inexcusable.”
“Hopefully he will be able to receive the help and support he needs during this difficult time.”
According to a source who spoke with Us weekly On Thursday, people in Spears’ circle hope the arrest will serve as a “wake-up call” after what has been a difficult period in her life.
