Remedy Entertainment has confirmed that Resonant control will lean towards melee action compared to the first game, but that’s “not a soul type.”
A new gameplay trailer for the Control The sequel debuted during last month’s Sony State of Play, showing protagonist Dylan Faden wielding all manner of weapons to defeat enemies in the supernaturally warped Manhattan.
Now, new details have emerged thanks to press previews and, according to IGN, the melee combat is faster than its predecessor and comparable to the style of The devil may cry and bayonet.
You will fight many enemies in Resonant control using Dylan’s primary shape-shifting melee weapon, the Aberrant, which can change into many other forms including Hammer, Swords, Scythe, and Fists.
It’s a big change Control‘s main duty pistol will mean getting up close and personal with enemies. But according to the game’s lead designer Sergey Mohov, Resonant It’s not like action games like Elden Ring either dark souls.
“This is not a soul,” said Mohov. “It is an action-driven game with an aggressive gameplay style. The player is in charge and not [simply] reacting. The main driver of combat is you.”
Remedy described the game as an action role-playing game (RPG) without inventory management, but insists that “it’s not a survival game, it’s an action game,” according to creative director Mikael Kasurinen.
In a separate PlayStation blog post, senior communications manager Miika Huttunen offered more details on Resonant‘s action, saying, “Expanding the player’s expression in combat was critical to our design.”
Huttunen said the game’s action “leans more toward melee and supernatural synergy,” meaning players will need to utilize Aberrant and Dylan’s abilities that can be unlocked in the talent tree.
“He [The Aberrant] “Switches between distinct primary and secondary forms, along with powerful combo finishers, allowing you to customize speed, range and combat role within a single build,” Huttunen said.
In Resonant controlMelee attacks also restore Dylan’s combat skill resource, skills can stun enemies to open them up for executions, and skills can temporarily increase melee damage.
Different playstyles are also supported, such as a short-range heavy build or a more tactical build using summons like Mold Turrets; It depends on the player.
“The more you commit to close-range pressure, the more tools you’ll gain to maintain control. It’s a cycle designed to reward decisiveness and fluidity,” the developer explained.
Resonant control It is expected to launch this year for PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC.
