Britney Spears has spoken to both her mother and two children following her DUI arrest earlier this week, and those closest to her are now supporting the singer after what sources describe as a deeply emotional night.
According TMZLynne Spears called her daughter as soon as she heard about the arrest, and the conversation between the two was described as “positive” and “hopeful.”
Britney also spoke to her sons Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, after being released from jail Thursday morning, although she has yet to see any family members in person.
The disclosure comes at a particularly crude time.
Spears was stopped near the Borchard Road off-ramp in Newbury Park, Ventura County, around 9:28 p.m. Wednesday after officers reportedly observed her driving her black BMW “erratically at a high rate of speed.”
She was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol, and a source said Page six that officers also found an unknown substance inside his car at that time.
The results of his chemical tests are still pending and the investigation is ongoing. She was released at 6:07 a.m. Thursday.
Sources paint a picture of a woman who was visibly distraught throughout the process.
Spears was “crying and crying a lot” while being booked, according to Page six.
“She was incredibly excited,” a source told the outlet. “It’s been a very tough couple of months.” The same source said Spears “felt ashamed and embarrassed” and that she is “very sorry” for what happened.

His manager, Cade Hudson, was forthright in his public statement, calling the incident “completely inexcusable” and expressing hope that it could mark a turning point.
