- A Motorola Razr 70 certification has revealed some potential specifications
- The launch of the folding flip seems imminent
- Improved cameras and memory could scare off the Z Flip
Ask any phone fan, including us, what the best foldable phone is right now and they’ll tell you it’s the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7. However, another contender could soon surpass it in several ways.
It looks like the specifications of the Motorola Razr 70 have been leaked (this phone will probably be called simply ‘Motorola Razr (2026) in the US, depending on the brand’s naming conventions). This is due to the phone’s Chinese certifications, which reveal a lot about it.
The upcoming foldable phone seems to have some specifications in common with its predecessor, such as the 6.9-inch main screen and the second 3.6-inch screen, a 4,500 mAh battery, a 32 MP front camera and a 50 MP main camera.
However, some specifications have been updated: there will be a second camera that will also be 50MP, compared to 13MP on the 2025 model, maximum storage has increased to 1TB, and RAM has also seen an increase with the 16GB and 18GB models.
Four updates on the Galaxy Z Flip 7
Some of the Motorola Razr 70’s reported specs could catch the eye of the Z Flip 7, for fans looking for certain things.
Take, for example, storage. If the 1TB model becomes widely available, business users who need a lot of device space will have a fantastic new option; after all, the Z Flip and Razr 60 max out at 512GB.
This is equally true for RAM, which caps out at 12GB on the Z Fold 7. The 16GB or 18GB options on the Razr 70 are arguably a bit unnecessary on a foldable phone, but they would make it feel incredibly fast.
What interests me most is the camera department. Two 50MP cameras would give the Moto more pixels at its disposal than the Samsung, but the listing also mentions a 3x optical zoom, suggesting one of the cameras will be a telephoto lens. Given that most foldable phones currently offer dual camera systems with a main and an ultra-wide angle, this would be a novel and refreshing update for the phones.
The fourth advantage would be the resolution of the front camera, with the Razr 70’s (and 60’s, in fact) 32MP camera beating out the Samsung’s 10MP.
There’s a lot more to a phone than its hardware, so it’s impossible to say that the new Moto flipper will beat Samsung’s offerings at the moment. But it’s certainly something to watch.
There’s no word on when the Motorola Razr 70 series will launch, but the 2025 models were shown in late April this year, so a roughly similar window could follow this year. It will possibly come alongside a more premium model, like last year’s Motorola Razr Ultra, but we haven’t heard much about that yet.
