Christian Bale has had to make things clear after a scene from his new film The bride! sparked an unexpected comparison to his 1992 musical. Newsand his reaction was as shocking as one would expect.
During an interview with BuzzFeed Before the film’s release, a journalist noted that a particular moment in The bride! It reminded them of Bale’s first performance in the beloved Disney musical.
The 52-year-old was amused but was quick to clarify.
“I never would have thought that anyone would identify News to The bride! “That’s hysterical,” he said.
“But wait, big difference. News It’s a musical. “This is not a musical.”
The scene in question involves movement, but Bale wanted to explain what really drives it.
“This is something where it’s just a ridiculously energetic, possessive expression,” he said.
“Which you’ll understand when you see the whole movie, but it’s not a musical, you know?”
He described the sequence as “spontaneous” and noted that it involved heavy footwear rather than anything resembling dance attire, a “spontaneous dance of protest that leads to serious protests with serious consequences,” as he put it.
As for any future musical ambitions, Bale was pretty definitive.
“I don’t think I’ll ever set foot in a musical again in my life,” he admitted, before hesitating slightly: “Of course, never say never, but almost never say never in this one.”
