- Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will meet its June 18, 2027 release date
- This is stated by two of its producers, who are “very sure” that it will not be delayed any further.
- His first footage could also be shown sooner than some of us think.
It seems that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse (SM:BTS) will not be delayed again after multiple release date delays.
That’s the verdict from producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who told me exclusively that they’re “very confident” that one of next year’s most anticipated new movies will meet its current release date. That answer came up as part of our talk about Ave Maria Projectthe first film Lord and Miller have directed since 2014 Jump Street 22.
Originally scheduled for March 29, 2024, the sequel to Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (SM:ATS) was initially removed from Sony’s release calendar just weeks after Through the Spider-Verse made its theatrical debut in June 2023. The SAG-AFTRA strikes, along with highly publicized production issues, were cited as major factors for said withdrawal.

Fortunately, last March, Sony assured fans that the final installment of its award-winning and highly rated Spider-Man animated film trilogy was still in development. In addition, it set a new release date of June 4, 2027, for Beyond the Spider-Versewhich should conclude the stories of co-stars Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen.

Just four months later, a revised release date of June 25, 2027 was announced, raising new fears that SM:BTS was suffering more internal conflicts.
However, in September 2025, Sony indicated that development was not only going well but was somewhat ahead of schedule. Indeed, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verselatest release date —June 18, 2027—is the first time its launch has been brought forward.
Given Lord and Miller’s full belief that SM:BTS will be released next June, attention, as expected, will focus on the presentation of its first footage.
So far, we’ve only received a handful of official images that were released last April (see the X/Twitter post above). And, considering SM:ATS‘the first trailer received its world premiere at Brazil Comic-Con (CCXP) 2021 in December of that year, it would make sense for Sony to release it Beyond the Spider-VerseThe inaugural teaser during this year’s CCXP, especially since the launch will still be six months away when CCXP 2026 takes place.
Is that the most likely scenario? I had to ask. Unfortunately, Lord and Miller didn’t give a definitive answer, but their response gave me hope that we might see something soon and, perhaps, even before December.
“We can’t really tell you that, but stay tuned,” Miller said, before Lord continued with “Soon. You’ll see something soon… sort of.”
Does that mean we could see something at San Diego Comic-Con at the end of July? Or even sooner at Mexico Comic-Con next month (i.e. April)? I guess we’ll find out in the coming weeks and months.
