Are you looking for a different day?
A new NYT Strands puzzle appears at midnight every day for your time zone, which means some people are always playing “today’s game” while others play “yesterday’s.” If instead you are looking for the Friday puzzle then click here: NYT Strands Tips and Answers for Friday, March 13 (Game #740).
Strands is the latest NYT word game after Wordle, Spelling Bee, and Connections, and it’s a lot of fun. It can be difficult, though, so read on for my Strands suggestions.

NYT Strands Today (Game #741): The Answers
The answers to today’s Strands game number 741 are…
- VENT
- CRUST
- STUFFED
- LATTICE
- GLAZE
- FRUIT
- EDGES
- SPANGRAM: HAPPY DAY
- My rating: Easy
- My score: Perfect
Today is, of course, International Pi Day, a day to celebrate all things 3.14 (see what they did there) and, with today’s Strands, all things pie (something I didn’t understand after hearing my first word VENT; I initially thought it must be some kind of math term I’d never heard of).
While it’s great that the spangram is shaped like a circle, since Pi is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter, a spangram shaped like the pi symbol would have been more impressive (especially since it would be impossible).
Having solved the pi/pie puzzle, finding today’s words was elementary, although it made me quite hungry.
Answers from yesterday’s NYT Strands (Friday, March 13, game #740)
- BANJO
- MANDOLIN
- VIOLIN
- GUITAR
- HARMONICA
- SPANGRAM: BLUEGRASSSMUSIC
