Prince William and Princess Kate are planning big changes for the monarchy, as the Palace has already begun laying the groundwork for the new King and Queen.
There is no suggestion from the royals or the Palace that King Charles, despite his ongoing cancer treatment, intends to abdicate, but the monarch has been entrusting more duties to his heir.
Princess Anne had a strong reputation as the hardest-working member of the royal family and is “fiercely loyal to the monarchy.” And while she is devoted to her brother Charles, she is also one of the few who can defy him and “not be ignored,” according to royal expert Richard Kay.
Therefore, it is not surprising that he does not like the many changes that have occurred as William’s influence increases. He is bothered by the fact that the royal family has “moved away from Queen Elizabeth’s focus,” especially in light of the Epstein scandal.
The royal expert shared that as royals become more open in their statements, Anne “would prefer not to be an outlier in this regard and does not like the way the family has moved away from Queen Elizabeth’s approach.”
She explained that Anne really likes Kate, but that she “isn’t entirely comfortable with the way Catherine and William have opened their hearts in times of personal difficulty.”
Anne is old school and adheres strictly to “stoic and noble traditions,” so it’s quite a difficult transition for her. However, he remains a key asset and is unlikely to change his ways even if the monarchy takes a new form during William’s reign.
